About us


INTRODUCTION:

Yorkshire Business World (YBW) is a NEW & FREE Business Community Platform designed specifically for business-to-business companies in Yorkshire.

Our goal is simple, to make Yorkshire the easiest region in which to succeed in business.

We do this by providing a platform for new and young businesses to seek advice, support and potential collaborations.

Importantly, we also provide a forum to promote your new businesses, products and services.

We believe it is critical that we provide support for new businesses, however we also recognize the importance of the well established businesses within our region. It is our vision to bring together the whole business community to encourage success and deliver growth.

YORKSHIRE BUSINESS WORLD CHALLENGE:

Starting and growing a business can be a lonely uphill struggle and never more so than in the current economic climate.   New entrepreneurs can be overwhelmed by the number of decisions and challenges they face in the early days, often in areas where they have limited or no experience.

We recognise that major decisions often benefit from expert one-to-one advice. However a significant amount of time, resources and often money is lost in seeking answers to small decisions that could be provided by peers, mentors or simply those who have done it before.

The goal of YBW is to support and assist the local business community to prosper by creating an environment where business knowledge and expertise can be shared and establishing a directory of experts who can act as the first point of call for some of the more challenging business issues.


YORKSHIRE BUSINESS WORLD PLATFORM:

Yorkshire Business World is an open, web-based platform that integrates a number of different Web 2.0 tools specifically chosen to help B2B companies market themselves, their products and their services.

At launch the website will include the following tools:

Social Media Platform, VoIP, Webinar, Video, Business Blog, Events calendar, Q&A’s,Story of the Week,...


 
In addition to this suite of tools, YBW will provide a platform to promote new business launches along with new products and services.  Central to the platform will be the support, collaboration and promotion which is critical to all new businesses.

Yorkshire Business World will create a Knowledge Network aimed at helping businesses grow within our region - in essence an intranet site for Yorkshire Business.

Yorkshire Business World has been designed to use “application technology” which means the platform can be highly customised for each user, ensuring the content is extremely focused and relevant.

We have developed a robust Product and Service Development Roadmap, which will take us into our second year.  However we believe it is critical that the platform continues to develop dynamically based on the input and influence from its users.  It is this user engagement and ability to tailor our offer to the needs of the users that we believe will be central to our success.  

We recognise that the platform will become more valuable if there are more contributors and we will encourage Yorkshire companies to come forward with their products and services and integrate them within the platform.  This will not only enable the platform to maintain its leading edge but also promote new initiatives from within the region.


Collaboration:

Technology has made it easier than ever to collaborate with third parties.  This is especially critical for young businesses, which often do not have all the resource or expertise internally to take their products and services to market.  Yorkshire Business World creates an environment where contractors, freelancers and other independent companies can actively look for collaborative and joint working opportunities.

Support:

We wish to encourage entrepreneurial spirit and recognise those first steps are difficult and require support.  We are building a comprehensive database of questions and answers targeted at new businesses.  We are also bringing together a team of experts and peers that can help new businesses with their first steps, saving them time and money.

Promotion:

Yorkshire Business World provides a fantastic platform for businesses to promote their new, products, services and events.  Most importantly it provides this opportunity to a wide audience of other Yorkshire businesses.

Yorkshire Business World is an ambitious new business, which will have a positive impact on not only new start-up companies within Yorkshire but across the whole regional business community.
